International Financial Services Centres Authority (Setting up and Operation of International Branch Campuses and Offshore Education Centres) Regulations, 2022
On 11th October 2022, the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) issued a notification no. IFSCA/2022-23/GN/REG027, titled “International Financial Services Centres Authority (Setting up and Operation of International Branch Campuses and Offshore Education Centres) Regulations, 2022”.
These regulations make it easy for foreign universities and educational institutions to set up their International Branch Campuses (IBCs) and Offshore Education Centres (OECs) located within the centre, with the objective of turning it into a haven for international studies.
These regulations highlight key benefits, such as enabling foreign universities and institutions to set up branches, promoting research in finance-related fields, supporting executive education, and ensuring world-class education for Indian and foreign students. Further, the regulations outline application, registration, and annual fees, allow profit repatriation, and safeguard student interests. These measures aim to enhance the educational ecosystem and contribute to the growth of the international financial services sector.
